Archangel

‘Archangel’ is very similar to ‘Chalice’. Many sources (including the Saunders’ catalogues!) list it as an F2 of ‘Chalice’ but according to Saunders’ Notebook I, its parent is another unnamed seedling  (#1612) from a lactiflora ‘Jean Bancroft’ X macrophylla cross whereas ‘Chalice’ comes from lactiflora ‘Primevere’ X macrophylla.  ‘Archangel’ tends to spread out more than does ‘Chalice’ so be sure to give it some room.
